Art is a wonderful way to express myself. Images are more powerful than words. They can evoke emotions, inspire with beauty or comment on the world around us. You’ll see elements of all of those in my art.
About me
I have been drawing and painting since childhood but started to pursue it seriously in 2002. First steps into fine art were Chat Noir Studio in Port Elizabeth, South Africa under the guidance of the talented Les Bird. Since 2013 I live and work in Munich, Germany.
Among my favourite painters are Carravaggio, Vermeer, Murillo, Goya, Cezanne, Gauguin… you’ll see their influence throughout my portfolio. Over the years I experimented with various styles, occasionally copied an old master or experimented with ideas based on old masters. I like to stay fluid and pick whatever style suits the subject matter.
I started with water colours, but today, the majority of my work is in oil or acrylic.
My current favourite is doing doing portraits in contemporary realism.
